Don Giuseppe Magrin

International President

Don Giuseppe Magrin was born at Montegalda, province of Vicenza July 2, 1938, in a family of 15 children, of whom eight are priests or nuns.  He entered the minor seminary of Padua in 1950, was ordained deacon February 17, 1963, presbyter July 7, 1963.  Co-operator for two years in the parish of Piove di Sacco, priest fidei donum in the diocese of Nyeri, Kenya, now self sufficient.

He returned to Padova in 1972, and was the Parish Priest of Carpané of S. Nazario for 6 years, simultaneously assistant vicar for the youth of Catholic Action, and teacher of religion in a teacher training institute. In 1978, teacher of religion at the "Liceo Scientifico" Enrico Fermi, in Padua, ecclesiastical assistant for the Pastoral of labour in the headquarters of the group (U.C.I.D).

In 1979 he became the diocesan secretary for the Association of the Apostolic Union of Clergy, Padova. As per the advice of his superiors resumed his studies at the University of Padua, where he graduated in Pedagogy social psychology.

In 1982, he was elected national president of the Italian Apostolic Union of Clergy and in 1987 inter-regional ecclesiastical consultant  of the Christian Union  of entrepreneurs and managers. He gave a new face to the Apostolic Union for Clergy in Italy with a new bulletin (UAC newsletter), and new theological foundations. Since 1991 he is the international President of the Confederation, succeeding Mons. Joseph Madec, bishop of Toulon-Frejus, with the goal of moving the international seat from Paris to Rome and adjourning the general Statutes. Both objectives have been reached.

He has doctoral degrees in Pedagogy and in Ecumenical Theology, he writes in diverse publications (Presbiters, the Deaconate in Italy, Pretres diocesains, ecc.) on the ordained ministry, and in particular on the diaconate, in which he has specialized. On  January 1, 2000  founded the Apostolic Union of the Laity and in 2004, the Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, asked him to activate the sector of the formation of the  Clergy, to update of  formators  in mission territories ... where he remained until January 1st 2013. On October 25, 2012, he  was re-elected International President of AUC, and  was nominated as  a member of the capitalo of St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican.
